Hello! First time commenting,I really enjoy your blog. These bears are adorable! I could see them (without border)as a change purse or in chunky yarn and a little girls purse, stuffed, with a stem as baby rattle, also as a baby bib, well the list could go on.lol Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Hello, I am a first timer as well with stitching Amigurumi style patterns. I very much enjoy your tutorial and going to try and make this today. I find your instructions very clear and easy to follow.

One thing I do wonder, did you use the entire skein of the cotton yarn?

    Hi Peg,

    Thank you! 🙂
The circle square is similar to Teddy Bear square, only you begin with 12 dc in magic ring (actually chain 3, then 11 dc in ring) – instead of the muzzle, the rest is the same, row 2 – 2 dc in each stitch, row 3 – dc in next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch; repeat that around, and the fourth row is the same as Teddy Bear's, and you work only in back loops.
    My blanket is 83 x 67 cm (with border) and there are 80 squares 8 x 10

I just love this pattern. As luck would have it I have a newly born g'son to make this for just two weeks old. I just hope I finish it before his birthday. I still have projects going from when his mom was a newborn. But let's not talk about that…..

The last crocheting I attempted was not finished either. I wonder what happened to it? I remember my cat at the time got at the yarn, and it was on the top shelf of a closet, how he managed to get up there is a mystery, this cats must smell trouble to get into. I remember there was a mess to clean and untangle, I remember throwing it into a bag. It was that poncho thing that Martha Stewart left prison wearing. How many years ago was that??? That was a nice poncho pattern. Someday….if this goes well…maybe I will attempt that again – from scratch.

thanks a lot for the pattern, it`s so very nice. i just tried it and one bear is ready now. but i have one question: is it right that i have to begin the right ear with slip stich, skip one, …. and the left ear with a chain stich??? my bear has the problem that the ears turn down , is it normal or is there a fault on my side??? thank you very much for a short answer, greetings from germany, sibylle

Thank you for this beautiful tutorial! I shared a link on our Facebook group. We are a group of Dutch women that crochet blankets for children that have a really hard time for various reasons (i.e. cancer, severe autism, fostercare…) The group is called "Berendekens", which means "Bear- blankets"…for bear- warmth en strenght….Many women work on single granny squares, then we assemble and put them together, so the love of many hands goes into the blanket…I know a lot of our members will be really pleased to use your wonderfull tutorial….

Thank you for sharing this pattern and making the tutorial. I am using baby weight yarn to make my squares and then will assemble them to make a blanket for my new grandbaby, expected sometime this week. I had to play around with the placement of the eyes because my first attempts had them a little off center. But I think this is going to be so cute when I'm finished! I'll try to post a picture when I'm done.

Hi! I'm not a crochet expert, but maybe I can help you. I tried the pattern with a bigger and a smaller crochet hook (but with the same yarn). The teddy bear made with the bigger hook was pretty flat, but the one with the smaller hook has a cute pointy nose. 🙂 So I would suggest to try it with a smaller hook. I hope, I could help 😉

Hi there, I just finished making a blanket from this pattern. Turned out super cute! I think the author used cotton yarn, but I wanted mine really cuddly and soft and used a merino yarn, no problems. Just go by the smaller hook size recommendation on the yarn to get the cute little 3D nose. The beads need to be strung onto the yarn before you start working on the teddy bear (before the nose if you're making it the same colour as the rest of the bear, or when you change colour after the nose if you're making the rest of the bear a different colour). Good luck!
