New Boho-chic Crochet Bag

30/10/2018 by Dada Filed Under: Crochet bags 2 Comments

Crochet boho bag

Do you remember my boho-chic bags? I really love that pattern, and decided to make one for myself. Although I love the colors from the pattern, I must admit that when it comes to my dressing style I’m not a very adventurous person. I prefer neutral colors and maybe some shades of pink in the summer. That’s all! So, I decided to make a boho-chic bag in a neutral color, and found the perfect yarn for that project. It is Eco-cotton by Yarn Art, color 768, 220m/100g, 85% cotton, 15% polyester. Made in Turkey. I really like that shade of dark beige. It looks like nature! if you know what I mean… I spent 2 skeins of 100g.

The great thing about making a bag, is that you need to make only 8 granny squares (at least in this case), which is quite easy and fast to do. So it might be an ideal project for a crafty weekend. I finished all crocheted parts very quickly, but I procrastinated with lining the bag, because sewing isn’t something I’m eager to do. But, after some time, maybe a week, I really wanted my bag finished and ready to wear, so I sat down and did quite a simple job of lining the bag. It took me maybe an hour. Actually, it took me one week and an hour. The lesson – learned! Procrastination does not pay off! “Life is short, don’t be lazy” to quote Sophia Amoruso from #girlboss. (by the way, the book is great!)

The bag is a bit larger than my previous bags, it’s 30 cm (11,8″) x 32 cm (12,6″), and the strap is 112 cm (44″) long.

I used a plain cotton fabric for the lining, and that’s all!

My Crochet Drawstring Project Bag

04/01/2018 by Dada Filed Under: Crochet bags 10 Comments

I’ve just recently started to watch crochet and knitting podcasts, and watching them I discovered project bags. I’m not sure how is it even possible, but I really hadn’t known they existed! Can you imagine that?

I really liked the idea that when you finish working on your project for the day, you put it away into a beautiful project bag. Nice and neat. So I decided to make at least one for myself. Although all of the beautiful project bags I saw in those podcasts were sewn, and I have some experience in sewing, I didn’t want to sew my bag, I wanted to crochet it. And I did just that. I made myself colorful and happy crochet project bag! And I really like it!

I didn’t put too much thought into how to make it. I just grabbed my crochet hook, some colorful yarn from my stash, and started. Choosing the next color was my favorite part of the process, so I finished the bag quite quickly.

The bag isn’t too big, it’s approximately 26 cm (10″) wide and 33 cm (13″) long, and it’s ideal for smaller crochet projects like amigurimies, scarves, pillows or shawls.

It’s very simple and easy to do crochet project. I worked it in single crochet, made in back loops only.
I started with a long chain of 56 stitches, and then worked around it. After four rows, I stopped increasing and worked the next 82 rows 1 sc into each stitch. I joined the rows with slip stitch.

The yarn: I used 100% cotton yarn “Tango” and “Golf” from St. George, 125m/50g and 3.5 mm crochet hook.

And if you’re wondering who is that cute little sheep helping my photos look more interesting and appealing, it’s Anita, the sheep. I made her using the pattern from the “Amigurumi globetrotters” book by Ilaria Caliri. Nice book, by the way.

P.S. If you’re wondering which are my favorite crochet and knitting podcasts, I would say that my favorite crochet podcast is Potter and bloom, and my favorite knitting podcast is probably Yarngasm.

3 Blooming Bags

31/10/2017 by Dada Filed Under: Crochet bags, Crochet granny square 6 Comments

Do you remember my Blooming Blanket and Blooming pillow? Yes, I made something else bloom, too. This time these 3 bags. With a little help from crochet, everything can bloom. I think.

For these flowery, romantic crochet bags I used the same granny square pattern as for my Blooming blanket. The joining method is different though. This time I joined the squares with single crochet. I also omitted the last row of the square. The rest of the square is the same.

They are quite small, but you can easily put your basic things, like phone, wallet and keys inside.

I lined them with a cute plaid cotton fabric, which I always do because it’s so easy, and the bags look so nice and neat because of that. Also, there’s no way that anything can fall out from your crochet bag, which might be possible if they aren’t lined with a fabric.

Yarn: As always, 100% cotton yarn, this time “Vera” (which means faith in Serbian) 125m/50g from Yumco (manufacturer from Serbia)
