Autumn glory crochet scarf pattern

Dadas place crochet shawl pattern
I finally managed to finish this Autumn glory crochet scarf pattern!
*
I really don’t know why it took me so long to finish it. Actually, I finished the scarf a long time ago, but writing a pattern was much more complicated and demanding part. It also wasn’t help that I had eyes inflammation, which was so hard for me. I couldn’t crochet, use a computer, read or watch TV for several days. And even when I was better, I had to be very careful to not bother my eyes to much. It was hard.

I like how this pattern turned out. I like it because it’s simple, but decorative, and join as you go method is very convenient, because you don’t have to join your motifs in the end. When you finish your last motif, you’re actually done! I like that.

I wanted the pattern to be easy to follow even to beginners, so I include step by step tutorial on how to make and join squares, with more than 40 photographs, and 3 crochet charts (which I think were responsible for my eyes inflammation) My favorite part of this pattern is the colorful crochet chart for the square. I really like how it looks!

Also, it is easy to achieve a nice color combination with this pattern. And the possibilities are endless… I think that this pattern is very suitable for a baby blanket. I can imagine soft and cozy baby blanket in pastel colors like those above.

Crochet scarf for my sister

Dadas place crochet scarf free pattern
I wanted to make a scarf for my sister, for a while, so, when I finished my last project, I started to search the Internet (especially Pinterest) for some ideas and inspiration, and found this and this pattern, which I instantly liked.

I peered into my yarn stash, and found a beautiful brownish multicolor yarn, just what I was looking for! I made a square, and it was beautiful! I loved it! I was so happy that I found the winning combination! The following day, I went into my favorite (St. George) yarn shop, but, unfortunately, they didn’t have anymore the yarn I was looking for.

I was very, very disappointed. But, as you probably know from your own experience, you just can’t to feel bed in a yarn shop. I looked around in search for appropriate yarn for the scarf. I didn’t have to search for long. I found these beautiful autumn colors. 100% cotton. I liked them so much! As soon as I came home with a several skeins of my new favorite yarn (“Cotton Cable” 95m/50g from St. George), I started the scarf. I made one square, and really liked how it turned out. It looked even better then the square I’d previously made using the multicolor yarn. I made some changes in the last row of the pattern, because I wanted to use Join-As-You-Go method.

When I joined several squares together, they looked nice, the colors were fine, but something was missing. The squares didn’t look interesting enough, and they were somehow unconnected. So, I came up with the idea to add the petals into the fourth row of the square. That was it! The squares looked much more interesting and connected. I loved how they looked! Much better. I was happy! I’ve found the solution.
And do you know what is the best part in this story? My sister loves the scarf! And I love when the story has a happy end!
The end.

Creating…

Black sheep
Two years ago I didn’t know anything about crochet. I know. It sounds strange, even to me. I feel like I have always been crocheting… But, 2 years ago I was painting and drawing… pictures for kids, like this one black sheep. The quote is one of my favorites, from Oscar Wild of course “Be yourself! Everyone else is already taken.” So cute and true.

I painted girls with butterflies, like this one

or this…
Illustrated journal
I also kept an illustrated journal, and enjoyed tremendously drawing and painting in it
Beautiful illustrated journal
but when I fell in love with crochet, I became totally addicted to it, so I stopped drawing and painting… And to be honest, I don’t miss it. I know that at this time in my life, crochet is the thing which inspires me the most, and where I can express my creativity in the best possible way.
Colorful illustrated journal
I know for sure, that one day I will be back to my journal and paints, paintbrushes and pencils, and I look forward to it.
Crochet motif
In the meantime, I spend my days in the best possible way. With my crochet hook. The pink one. And some sunny days, with my camera. My trusty Nikon D40.

I also have been thinking recently about how I don’t like to write about myself very much. It crossed my mind that maybe I should try to make my blog a little more personal. But then, I realized that creating something is personal. The more personal than the fact that for example I have a very, very, very cute black & white Tibetan terrier (which of course I adore), or that I studied law, or that my teenage son makes me crazy every single day (but who of course I adore nevertheless)… So, I realized that my blog in fact is very personal.

And at the end I want to tell you something very important. Do what you love, every day! Just like I do.
P.S. The pattern for these lovely motifs you can find here.
