Into the woods blanket pattern

26/07/2020 by Dada Filed Under: Crochet blankets 2 Comments

Crochet pattern Into the woods blanket by dadas place

Into the woods blanket is my seventeenth blanket pattern. So, you can guess that I really love designing crochet blankets. Yes, I do. Especially baby blankets. Into the woods blanket is quite simple to make, and very adjustable as well. You can make it in any size, simply by increasing or decreasing the number of horizontal or vertical repeats. You can also use whatever yarn you like. If you use bulkier yarn, the blanket will be bigger and the texture will be more prominent.

I used Alize Angora Gold yarn in color beige (no. 599). I love this yarn because it’s beautiful, soft, and fluffy. It very nicely slides under the fingers while working with it. It’s quite thin, 100g/550m, 80% acrylic, 20% wool. Although it looks luxurious it isn’t expensive. I spent almost 3 skeins of 100g.

For this blanket I used only several stitches to achieve this interesting texture: chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, bobble stitch and front post treble crochet. I previously used the same textured stitch in my Weldy shawl, which was my best friend this past winter, always wrapped around my shoulders keeping me warm. I love how soft it is. The blanket is also very soft and warm. The perfect handmade baby shower gift.

The pattern is very detailed and has:
– a row-by-row written pattern,
– a step-by-step photo tutorial for the first 15 rows,
– a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to make tassels,
– 4 crochet charts and 2 diagrams.

Lelia Shawl Pattern

26/05/2020 by Dada Filed Under: Scarves and shawls 2 Comments

Crochet shawls, apart from baby blankets are my favorite things to design. Probably because I really like wearing them. When it’s cold, there’s always a shawl wrapped around my shoulders. This past winter my best friend was Weldy shawl. It kept me warm while I was working at my desk, or sitting on the sofa crocheting.

The Lelia shawl is my fifth shawl design, and I enjoyed working on it. I loved all the phases of the process. From the sketch to the finished shawl. It was challenging sometimes, I’m not going to lie, but as a small business owner, I’m used to solving problems. The idea was to make a light and lacy summer shawl. When I developed the design I totally fell in love with it, so I decided to make two versions. The first one is more girly and romantic, and the one with colorful bobbles is more modern. I love both styles, and can imagine a lot of ways to incorporate them into my everyday outfits.

For the beige version I used 100% cotton yarn “Anna 16” from Yumco (100g/530m). You can use any super fine, light fingering yarn, or crochet thread for doilies, instead. You’ll need 2 skeins of 100g.

For the version with colorful bobbles I used thin cotton yarn for doilies, which is the same weight as “Anna 16” yarn. I spent almost 200 grams of the main color, and several grams of each of the contrasting colors for bobbles.

Although the shawl is quite big, it’s quick to make because it’s so perforated, with lots of chain spaces.

The pattern. I spent so much time working on it! I wanted everything to be a crystal clear and easy for you to follow. It is written in English using US crochet terms.

The pattern has:
– a row-by-row written pattern,
– a step-by-step photo tutorial for the first 5 rows,
– 15 crochet charts (don’t let this number frighten you, the pattern is quite simple and repetitive. I just wanted to cover all the rows, and if you use charts, you’re probably only going to take a glance to see what to expect in each row),
– a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to make a bobble stitch,
– a step-by-step photo tutorial on how to make a bobble stitch in different color,
– a stitch guide and all the information about the yarn, materials needed and blocking.

Summerhill Shawl Pattern

02/04/2020 by Dada Filed Under: Scarves and shawls 2 Comments

Crochet pattern Summerhill shawl by dadas place

Summerhill shawl is light and airy, a perfect accessory to your summer outfit. It’s very easy to make, plus it’s a yarn saver. You only need 2 skeins of yarn! It’s made of very thin cotton yarn. I used 1-2 size bigger crochet hook than recommended for this yarn weight, because I wanted it to be as delicate as a spider web. And I really love how it turned out!

The design is very simple, and only decoration is a row of little roses on the border. At first I wanted to add a bunch of colorful crochet flowers on the border, but then my desire to make a shawl as simple and minimal as possible prevailed, and I decided on adding just a row of solid colored roses.
