Flowers + Lace = Scarf

25/09/2015 by Dada Filed Under: Scarves and shawls 18 Comments

Flowery lacy crochet scarf
For a long time, I had a picture of a flowery, airy, translucent scarf in my mind, so last month when I bought some pastel yarn, I sat down and started to play with the yarn… this is what came out of it.

This time, I didn’t use “Tango” yarn, instead I used 100% cotton yarn “Golf”, also from St. George – 125m/50g “Golf” yarn is a bit difficult to work with, because it has a tendency to split, but I really love Golf’s color palette, even better than Tango’s.Now, I can’t wait for autumn to arrive!

As soon as I finish tutorial for Victorian flower baby blanket, I will start to write tutorial for this scarf. Hope it will be finished sometime in October. Or November. Or December… Who knows… I’ve already have 2 new projects on my hook, and a couple of new ones in my head, so…

Victorian flower baby blanket

Vicorian flower baby blanket pattern
I always find it difficult to write a post. Partly because I’m not very good with words, and partly because English (obviously) isn’t my native language. I just hope that you have a clue what I’m talking about in my posts.

This blanket is made of 100% cotton yarn “Tango” and “Golf” from St. George. So many times so many of you asked me where can you buy “Tango” yarn, and I always have the same disappointing answer that St. George (manufacturer from Serbia) don’t sell online and if you don’t live in Serbia or in several neighboring countries you can’t possibly purchase that yarn. But recently, I bought at their shop several skeins of cotton salmon pink yarn, and to my surprise on the label was written “Piazza” Fisher-wolle, but they looked exactly like “Tango”. I went to their website and found that same yarn. So, I guess that maybe St. George manufacture some of the cotton yarn for Fischer Wolle. It’s a German website, and I’m not sure if they send abroad, but maybe this information would be useful to some of my German followers.

What else can I say about the blanket? It measures approximately 80 x 80 cm (31.5″ x 31.5″) and has a white, lacy border which I really like.

I joined the squares with single crochet, and for that purpose I used a yarn with metallic threads in it, which looks really nice.

Yesterday, I took the last pictures for the tutorial I’m currently writing, so I hope that the pattern will be completed by the end of the month.

Tote bag with crochet flowers

Tote bag with crochet flowers
I made another tote bag. This time with crochet flowers and green lining. And I’m quite happy how flowery and blooming it turned out.
Crochet flowers tote bag
Making tote bag is very easy, even with a lining. If you have never made one before and you would like to, just google “How to make tote bag” and it will appear numerous photo tutorials and even videos on how to do it. I’m not very skilled in sewing, but I managed to make it without troubles.

If you decide to make a tote bag like this one, you have to sew on the flowers before you assemble the bag. Which means, you first decide which flowers you would like to add to the bag, then make them, cut the fabric, sew on the flowers to the fabric, embroider the leafs, and then sew the bag together. Piece of cake.

The pattern for these flowers I found in this gorgeous Japanese crochet book. Needless to say, I adore Japanese crochet books.

I embroider the stems and the leafs with the chain stitch.

And this is my finished Victorian flower baby blanket, with a lacy edge which I really like. Now I just have to sit down and write the tutorial. But, given that I’ve already started my next project, and I’m very eager to finish it as soon as possible, it probably won’t be very soon…
